The Replacement Fiance A SmallTown Holiday Romance Holiday Engagement Series Book 1 edition by Liz Durano Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Mariah is preparing to spend Christmas with her family, but when she discovers that her ex-fiancé and wife will be in the house next door, she decides to hire a man to pretend to be her fiancé. However, when the fake fiancé, Cooper, can't make it in time due to a snowstorm, Logan Garrison, one of Mariah's friends, volunteers to take Cooper's place and help her.
The attraction between Mariah and Logan has been around for a long time, but neither has ever had the courage to invest in these feelings. But now, as fake fiancés, they need to make it seem like their relationship is for real. And when the first kiss occurs between them, both realize that things will never be as they were before.
Will they be able to hide the truth from Mariah's family for the time they need? Or will the truth surface and undermine any chance of them being really happy together?
I really loved this story and the characters.
I highly recommend the reading.
This is my second book by Liz Durano, so she is a relatively new author for me. Based on her The Replacement Fiance A Small-Town Holiday Romance (Holiday Engagement Series Book 1), I’m promising myself that we will become well acquainted. As the book’s blurb notes, “The engagement may be fake.
But the emotions are real”. This novel truly is, quite simply, both “real” and wonderful. The tale had just what I wanted (both friends-to-lovers and fake fiancé story lines; two of my faves) and was well written and with a great plot that really worked well. Mariah Peters and Logan Garrison , the leads here, are both perfectly crafted and their supporting cast is also superb. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, it is easy to highly recommend and I’m definitely looking forward to book 2.
This is a heart warming, warm hug of a read that drew me in and that I didn't want to end. Having read several books by this author I have come to expect a high standard of writing along with some good feels, though no silly and unnecessary drama. Her characters are always well portrayed and the plots are captivating. The Replacement Fiance delivered on all of these and more.

In order to safe face in front of her ex-fiance, Mariah told her family she was engaged. Now they're expecting to meet him over Christmas. Snow storms in the East mean the escort she hired is grounded thousands of miles away so in steps Logan, the man she has secretly lusted over for the last few years.

Mariah tastes of vanilla and honey, of shyness and a vulnerability I've never seen before this moment when all the masks finally come down and it's just us.

This is such a feel good read, not too sentimental or slushy, not to angsty and not just for the holidays. I enjoyed this from first line to last and my only real disappointment is that it's a novella and there wasn't more of Mariah and the extremely sexy Logan. It's a first person story, with both the hero and heroines view points.

Novella's always leave me wanting more, and in this one it was a little more depth to the characters. That's not to suggest they weren't rounded or believable, but I felt more like an acquaintance at times rather than a friend, particularly with Logan as we get less of his POV. I didn't quite get as much of an emotional connection with him. However that is the nature of shorter stories, there is always something that has to 'give'.

I did get plenty of feels from this book, especially the epilogue which really was quite cheesily perfect. It's also a slow-burn, with only one very tasteful sex scene, so whilst it's more of an adult read, it shouldn't offend anyone. I really do recommend this to all those who love reading contemporary romance. You would be missing out on a delightful read if you pass on this one.
Great characters, always an intriguing storyline & a quirky family thrown in!
The book was ok, very predictable. There were a number of errors, the main one being Logan called by someone else’s name in one part of the book. The characters were very one dimensional, but I guess that’s to be expected in such a short story. It was ok, but nothing to rave about.
Liz Durano is one of my favorite authors. She writes well with great storylines! I was not disappointed in this quick read that has been perfect for this colder weather. Mariah and Logan have a great story. I look forward to reading more from this author!
If you are in need of a mental break and want to read a romantic story, I suggest you give this one a try. Liz Durano writes well and her characters are fully-fleshed. Although the premise is not new, I was drawn to the protagonists. The Christmas setting made it all the better for me. I read The Replacement Fiance in one sitting. Now I find myself wishing for my own Logan. Dear Santa Am I too old to ask for a gift?
